PETALING JAYA (July 2): The Immigration Department will handle all matters related to the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme from July 6 onwards, reported FMT today.

Those with MM2H matters would need to go to the department’s HQ in Putrajaya, Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud said in a statement yesterday.

“Only applications (for visa holders) to return to Malaysia will still go through the tourism, arts and culture ministry,” he clarified.

Khairul added that department HQ would “fully utilise e-payments through credit and debit cards for transactions”.

He informed that “all parties would have to make appointments online” via http://sto.imi.gov.my before going to the immigration HQ.

“We advise the public to visit our official website and Facebook page for more information, or to call 03-8880 1555 for enquiries,” he said.

FMT reported yesterday that the MM2H centre in the tourism ministry has been closed “until further notice”.

The news portal also quoted CEO of The Expat Group (TEG), Andrew Davison saying that the closure seems to be the result of a “major disagreement between the immigration and tourism ministries about the programme itself”.

Davison also claimed that “a staggering 90%” of MM2H applications have been rejected, which he felt “was unprecedented”.
