KUALA LUMPUR (July 14): Expatriates living within Malaysia are not allowed to go on holidays overseas, reported The Star today.

“We have received applications from expatriates who are company directors in Malaysia to go overseas for holidays.

“We have decided not to allow this,” Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told the media during a briefing at Parliament today.

According to Ismail, the National Security Council made the decision so as to be fair to all as “Malaysians are also not allowed to go overseas”, except for those pursuing their studies abroad.

“We are not allowing anyone to leave the country for holiday, including expatriates.

“If they want to do so, we will not let them back in the country for a certain period of time,” the daily reported him saying.
