PETALING JAYA (Aug 13): UEM Sunrise Bhd appointed Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz (pictured) as its new chairman of the board of directors, effective today.

In a press statement today, the company has announced the new appointment of Noorazman, who has been serving as the company’s non-independent, non-executive director since October 2018.

The appointment comes after Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa’s retirement in July 2020. He has been holding the position since May 2017.

“We are pleased to have Datuk Noorazman as our chairman amid a time when the industry faces tremendous challenges and headwinds from numerous factors including global economic uncertainty and the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I am confident that his wealth of experience will bring a steady hand and guidance as UEM Sunrise continues on its transformation journey in charting through these turbulent times, to maintain our commitment in building communities of the future with you and for you,” said UEM Sunrise managing director cum chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib in the press statement.

The 64-year-old Noorazman has over 37 years of experience in banking and finance, investments and capital markets.

He is currently the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan UEM, and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF).

He also holds directorships in other public companies including the boards of UEM Edgenta Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd.

He is also a member of the Investment Panel of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) and sits on the advisory boards of Ancora Fund Management Co in Indonesia and Creador Sdn Bhd.

Previously, Noorazman served roles including executive director of investments in Khazanah Nasional Bhd and managing director of Fajr Capital Ltd which is a Khazanah investee company.
