KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 17): The US Department of Justice (DoJ) wants to recover US$300 million (RM1.24 billion) in “in additional assets” linked to the 1MDB mega scandal, Reuters reported today.

The report stated that the assets are “traced to an escrow account in the UK”.

The DoJ is also looking for “four dozen promotional movie posters” bought by former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s stepson Riza Aziz.

The news wire reported that the posters were purchased at “more than US$4 million in funds traceable to assets embezzled from 1MDB”.

Earlier reports revealed that US authorities have so far recovered “or assisted Malaysia in recovering” about US$1.1 billion in assets, said Reuters.

In July, Najib was found guilty of all seven charges in his first trial linked to the 1MDB affair.

Has been sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined RM210 million for abuse of power linked to the scandal.

He was also sentenced to 10 years in jail on each of three charges of criminal breach of trust and three charges of money laundering for illegally receiving nearly RM42 million from former 1MDB unit, SRC International.
