KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): DAP Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin (pictured) said she is “most disappointed with the unprofessional manner in which the sudden announcement by authorities in the National Security Council (NSC) was made” on the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

In a media statement on her Facebook today, she said “Selangor was taken aback by the news of the imminent implementation of a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) on the whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya”.

She said that the announcement of a CMCO without any proper planning will only bring upon burden to all.

“Frontline staff will have to work overtime in places that don’t really even need extra monitoring. For example, wouldn’t it be quite illogical to implement a full scale CMCO in Sabak, Selangor (not to be confused with Sabah) which does not have any Covid-19 cases?” she asked.

“Currently, the only areas of particular concern are Klang, Gombak, Hulu Langat, and a part of Petaling. With the announcement of a CMCO on other areas which are still in the Green Zone category, this is bound to cause economic problems,” she explained.

“Yet, the issue of the high cost to the economy is left unanswered. The sheer uncertainty and confusion caused by the badly handled announcement is also left hanging in the air,” Jamaliah added.

“To be clear, I give 100% support to all efforts made by any authority to lower the number of cases for the safety and wellbeing of Malaysians, especially those on duty at the frontline who continue to give their all for our sake.

“That being said, it does not mean that we can simply give blind support to orders given without logic and sense,” she added.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced CMCO restrictions would come into force in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from 12.01am tomorrow until Oct 27 owing to the spike in Covid-19 cases in several districts.
