KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Opposition leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has had an audience with the King, in which he claimed the support of a number of Members of Parliament (MPs), according to Istana Negara's comptroller of the royal household, Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

However, Anwar did not provide the names of the MPs supporting him, Ahmad Fadil said in a statement.

"In the session that took place for about 25 minutes, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the total [number of] MPs that he claimed are supporting him. However, he did not present the list of names of the MPs to support his claim," the comptroller said.

As such, the King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, had advised Anwar to abide by and respect the legal processes as enshrined in the Federal Constitution, the comptroller added.

The statement from the palace came after Anwar held a press conference earlier today, saying he had submitted documents to the King to prove his claim that he had secured the majority support of MPs to form a government.
