SINGAPORE (Oct 15): Mediacorp yesterday put the site of its former broadcast hub, Caldecott Broadcast Centre (pictured), on Andrew Road on the market at a guide price of S$260 million (RM795 million), according to CBRE and Showsuite Consultancy, which are jointly marketing the property.

The property spans 752,015 sq ft, and has a balance lease of 73 years. An application has also been made to the Singapore Land Authority for the lease to be extended to a fresh 99-year lease tenure.

Under URA’s 2019 master plan, it is zoned as “Civic & Community Institution”.

Mediacorp has been granted URA approval for the redevelopment of the site to house a neighbourhood of two-storey bungalows, with a minimum land area of 800 sq m (8,611 sq ft ) per house. The company has also appointed an architect who has worked out a scheme to subdivide the plots, fitting 67 bungalows in total, subject to the authorities’ approval.

The site served Mediacorp as its broadcast centre for over six decades until 2015, when the company relocated to Mediapolis.

The tender exercise for the site will close on Dec 9.
