KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): Anglican church services in Kuching have been suspended owing to the city being declared a Covid-19 red zone, reported the Borneo Post.

Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, the Rt Rev Datuk Danald Jute told the daily that this means the All Souls’ Day commemoration which falls on Nov 2 will also not be held.

“Visit to cemeteries including the Batu Kitang Anglican Church cemetery is strongly discouraged. This is because that cemetery is just adjacent to Kampung Haji Baki which has been declared an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) area,” Danald said.

Only live streaming or on line prayer services involving small groups were allowed, he explained.

As for church weddings, if they cannot be postponed, “they should be held under strictest standard operating procedures”, he added.
