MAB Kargo confirms 17 coronavirus cases among its employees

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd, a sister company of Malaysia Airlines Bhd, said 17 Covid-19 cases had been detected among its employees this week.

This is following positive cases involving employees of its vendor, which were reported prior. As an immediate measure, all employees of the affected vendor were temporarily not allowed entry into MAB Kargo premises beginning Oct 25. MAB Kargo also suspended all warehouse activities from Thursday, Oct 29, until today, Oct 31, for professional disinfection work at the warehouse, it said in a statement today.

It went on to say that it had, with guidance from and coordination with the Ministry of Health (MoH), conducted systematic Covid-19 detection tests among its employees.

"Further health screening and testing of employees will be based on instructions of the health authorities. We remain committed to the safety of our customers and employees, and will ensure all SOPs (standard operating procedures) with regard to Covid-19 pandemic prevention remain in place,” it added.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) today reported a total of 659 new Covid-19 cases, bringing cumulative cases detected in Malaysia to 31,548.

As at 12pm today, the number of active cases stood at 10,051, with 249 dead, while 21,248 or 67.4% of those infected have recovered so far.
