KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 10): There is no need to register with the MySejahtera application when filling petrol, FMT News reported the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) clarifying today.

“Brief encounters such as filling petrol at pump stations or while making payments do not require MySejahtera scanning,” CPRC said in an email reply to a “public enquiry” over the issue which was obtained by FMT News.

CPRC said only individuals entering “the premises” have to scan the MySejahtera QR code, reported the news portal.

A National Security Council (MKN) officer also “confirmed the matter with FMT”.

Yesterday, a Chinese daily reported Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (investigation/legal) Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, saying that those caught not scanning the MySejahtera app while pumping petrol but have not entered the kiosks’ convenience shops will still be fined RM1,000 for breaching conditional movement control order SOPs.

Mior said the requirement is for tracking purposes.

“If there are any cases happening in that area, and members of the public did not scan using the MySejahtera app, how is the police going to track them?” he explained.

His statement was in response to a man stating on social media that his father was fined RM1,000 because he did not register with the MySejahtera app while pumping gas in the vehicle.

In the latest development, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob clarified during his media conference in the evening today that one only needs to scan the MySejahtera app at petrol stations only when paying at the counter, using the ATM, surau and toilet.
