KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): Three new Covid-19 clusters yesterday — namely Plaza, Kalabakan and Jeri — with 60 infections were detected, according to Ministry of Health (MoH) director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Two out of the three new clusters are in Sabah, of which the Plaza cluster in Kota Kinabalu reported 12 new confirmed cases, while the Kalabakan cluster in Tawau saw 22 new infections, the statement said.

The third cluster — Jeri cluster — is in Kota Tinggi, Mersing, and Muar in Johor, in which 26 cases were found positive Covid-19, while a whopping 609 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Meanwhile, only the Bah Arnab cluster in Kuching, Sarawak was declared to have ended today. This cluster had 12 confirmed infections, with no deaths reported.

With this, there are now 42 active clusters in the country at present, of which the bulk (or 1,061) of active cases are from the Cergas cluster involving the states of Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Selangor.

This was followed by the Damanlela Construction Site Cluster in Kuala Lumpur which has 744 active cases, making up the majority of yesterday’s new infections. The districts involved in this cluster are Kepong, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai, Cheras, Gombak, Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

To-date, Sabah continued to top the list of states with the highest cumulative infections to date with 23,095 cases, followed by Selangor (7,624), Kuala Lumpur (3,976), Negeri Sembilan (3,421) and Kedah (2,263).
