ParkCity's Lau: A good leader always looks at the strength of the staff

PETALING JAYA (Nov 16): A leader always focuses on the strength of the staff and brings out the best of what they can do, said ParkCity Group CEO Datuk Joseph Lau.

“Always look at someone’s strength. You can look at someone’s weakness all the time and you start hating the person for it. But, I don’t believe in that. 

“Everyone has their strength. If you focus on their strength, you build a happy employee. They get motivated. Who doesn’t have weakness? Everyone does! It’s all about teamwork,” Lau shared during tonight’s CEO Talks which was streamed live on EdgeProp.my’s Facebook and YouTube.

Lau was responding to EdgeProp.my editor-in-chief and managing director Au Foong Yee’s query on his management style.

“I tell my staff, you all know much better than me. My job is to tell you where we want to go and some of them, the head of departments have been here for a long time. Some even longer than me and they know better than me! I am here to guide you, to give you the direction and vision. Everyone does things differently, as long as we have the same objectives – that is okay,” Lau added.

Lau puts emphasis on teamwork and building the organisation where everyone understands how they can move the company together hand in hand. 

Everyone has a role to play in the company and can contribute in their respective areas, he said.
