KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai (pictured) has alleged that 42 plots of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) land have been sold in the past eight months since Tan Sri Annuar Musa took on the post federal territories minister, reported Malaysiakini.

“Ever since Annuar held his ministerial position, many plots of DBKL-owned land have been sold to private entities to be developed into housing, commercial and other projects.

“We are shocked that the minister has approved these sales in such a short time...

“I want to ask Annuar why he allowed these land sale transactions when the developments are likely to cause long-term or even permanent negative effects to many already overdeveloped areas,” Tan said during a media conference at the lobby of the Parliament today.

He added that developments also “risk negatively impacting the environment and recreational areas.”

Tan also revealed to Malaysiakini that DBKL had published three notices to alter the existing Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 “in recent months”.

He said the latest notice indicated “changes to 33 plots of DBKL-owned land while the earlier two notices indicated changes to three and six plots respectively”. The city is supposed to expire on Dec 31.

“There is so little time left (before the city plan expires) but DBKL still made three amendments affecting 42 plots of land,” Tan said.

Theedgemarkets news portal yesterday reported that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) found a conflict of interest within the management of the Federal Territories Foundation (YWP) which had various land dealings with the DBKL that were called into question.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh said the FT minister as well as the city mayor held the positions of chairman and member of the board of trustees of YWP, which had dealings with DBKL on land sales.

Wong noted that despite being registered under the Companies Act 1965, YWP was not monitored by any authoritative entity, including the National Audit Department.

The PAC also found that DBKL does not have any standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place for the disposal or sale process of its land.
