KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3): The final suspect in the robbery and murder case of the former director of the Information Technology Division, Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) Wan Hassan Wan Embong has been caught, the Malay Mail reported today.

Brickfields police chief ACP Anuar Omar confirmed with the news portal today that the 27-year-old suspect is in police custody.

“Yes, the fourth suspect in the case has been arrested, investigations are underway, we can’t reveal anything further as it may interrupt police investigations,” he said.

Bernama reported on Tuesday that another suspect who was involved in the robbery and killing had already been arrested via facial recognition.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the wife of the victim who was at the scene during the incident recognised the suspect making it easy for the police to detain him.

He said finding the wallet of the victim at the second robbery scene in Taman Tiara Titiwangsa here, also helped the police to detain the suspect.

On the morning of Nov 29, burglars who broke into Wan Hassan’s house in Bukit BandarayaBangsar.

He is believed to have been slashed with a parang when he tried to fight against the burglars, who broke in through the kitchen window of the double-storey bungalow.
