KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 10): The Health Ministry today identified five more Covid-19 clusters, with two each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, and one in Selangor, that cumulatively have 122 infections.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Bina Condong construction site cluster involving Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur has 24 individuals testing positive for the virus, while the Jalan Stadium construction site cluster which spanned Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur recorded 15 cases.

In Johor, the Jalan Dalam cluster involving Kulai, Batu Pahat and Johor Bahru has 13 cases; while the Tenun Merah cluster in Batu Pahat has 23 cases.

The lone cluster in Selangor, namely the Jalan Bukit construction site cluster in Hulu Langat, reported 47 cases.

The five new clusters make up the current total of 401 clusters, with 187 of them being active clusters.

A total of 214 clusters have been declared ended as no new cases were reported in 28 days. These include three clusters which came to an end today, namely the Merbok cluster in Selangor, Lintas cluster and Telipok cluster in Sabah.

Today, Malaysia reported its new record high of Covid-19 infections, with 2,234 cases recorded. Of this, Selangor contributed 1,428 or 63.9% of today’s daily cases.

The country’s Covid-19 death toll has risen to 396, after three more fatalities were announced.

Malaysia’s total cases stood at 78,499.
