KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17): The Ministry of Health reported two new Covid-19 clusters in Kuala Lumpur with 146 infections, and another cluster in Sabah with 11 cases, as of noon today.

The new clusters in Kuala Lumpur are the Jalan Rusa cluster in Cheras and the Pasifik construction site cluster in Lembah Pantai.

For the Jalan Rusa cluster, 129 individuals tested positive for the coronavirus out of 1,267 people screened.

As for the Pasifik construction site cluster, there were 17 positive cases from 159 people screened.

Over in Sabah, the Maringkan cluster detected in Telupid and Ranau had 11 cases.

As of noon today, there were 429 Covid-19 clusters in the country, said health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

He said six clusters were deemed to have ended in the absence of new cases for 28 days. This brought to 236 the total number of clusters that have been declared to have ended.

The six clusters include three in Selangor, namely the Benteng PK cluster, Kapas BJ cluster and Bah Tropicana cluster.

The other three are the Garden cluster in Sabah, Bah Bercham cluster in Perak, and Mentari cluster with cases in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia today posted 1,220 new Covid-19 cases, with 665 or 54% of them in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. This raised Malaysia’s total cases to 89,133.
