KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Six new Covid-19 clusters — with a total of 113 infections — were announced by the Health Ministry today, three of which were detected in workplaces.

The three are the Lebuh construction site cluster in Sepang, Selangor (20 cases), Jalan Tengah construction site cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur (11 cases), and the Persiaran Heights cluster in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (21 cases).

The other three new clusters are the Sugud cluster involving Penampang and Papar in Sabah (26 cases), Tembok Gajah cluster in Kluang, Johor (13 cases), and Utama Rini cluster which spans Johor Bahru, Kulai and Pontian in Johor (22 cases).

The ministry has detected 435 clusters since the pandemic began in January.

“About 238 clusters have been declared as officially ended including the Parit Kassan cluster in Johor and the Kube cluster in Kelantan,” said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

The three clusters that reported the most number of new cases today are the Jalan Harapan prison cluster in Selangor (235 cases), Bina Muda construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur (74 cases), and Tembok cluster in Kedah (55 cases).

Malaysia registered 1,683 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing total cases to 90,816.
