KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 21): The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be implemented at the Jasin Correctional Centre and its staff quarters from tomorrow (Dec 22) until Jan 4, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said the move would affect  771 people comprising 603 detainees and 168 staff as well as their family members.

"The EMCO standard operating procedures (SOP)  at this detention facility are similar to the regulations announced previously, including no in or out movements, and family members are not allowed to visit,” he said in a statement here today.

Ismail Sabri said as of Dec 19, the Ministry of Health (MoH) had conducted 1,251 screenings including the second and third screening, following which, 133 tested positive.

He said the MoH also confirmed that within a short period of time, there had been a sharp increase in COVID-19 infections among detainees at this centre.
