KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): A family of 16 from Labis, Johor, was infected with Covid-19 after a trip to the Klang Valley last month, which also caused the death of one member, reported the Oriental Daily yesterday.

According to the Chinese-language daily, the family went to the Klang Valley for family activities from Dec 17 to Dec 25 last year.

All 16 of the family lived under one roof, with the youngest being two years old and the oldest 60.

The report stated that the deceased in the family was a 60-year-old woman suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

She was taken to Segamat Hospital after the trip when she developed a fever, cough and complained of breathing difficulties. Her condition later worsened and she died in the hospital on Jan 3.

Meanwhile, the authorities have quarantined the 16 who tested positive, “some of whom had been hospitalised to receive treatment”, the report said.

The report also said that “the cluster caused the largest increase in Covid-19 cases in a single day for the Segamat district in 10 months”.
