Covid-19: Seven new clusters identified, six linked to workplaces in Selangor, Johor and Penang

KUALA LUMPUR (March 2): Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced seven new Covid-19 clusters today with a total of 134 infections among them. Six of these clusters are linked to workplaces in Selangor, Johor and Penang.

Of the six workplace-linked clusters, three are in Selangor — the Taman Alam cluster in Petaling with 23 infections; the Jalan Mawar cluster in Hulu Langat (10 infections) and the Sementa 27 cluster involving Petaling, Klang, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat (13 infections), said Dr Noor Hisham at a virtual press briefing today.

In Johor, there are two workplace-linked clusters, namely the Jalan DPB Enam cluster in Johor Bahru (36 infections) and the Jalan Cyber Satu cluster that spans Kulai and Kota Tinggi (nine infections).

The remaining workplace cluster is the Persiaran Bayan Indah cluster involving Barat Daya, Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang. The cluster has 25 infections.

The remaining cluster is a lone high-risk group cluster, namely Jalan Bukit Blossoms in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, which has 18 infections.

To date, Malaysia recorded 1,152 clusters, while 663 clusters have been declared ended as no new cases were reported in 28 days.

The country recorded 1,555 new Covid-19 cases today — marking the lowest number of cases reported in 57 days since Jan 4 — bringing the cumulative confirmed infections to 304,135. Six more fatalities were reported, raising the death toll to 1,141.
