PETALING JAYA (May 25): Datuk Teo Chiang Quan was a leader that led by example, said Datuk Seri Michael Yam (pictured), senior independent non-executive director of Paramount Corp.

Teo tempered his stewardship with core values of integrity, generosity, humility, compassion and care for others, especially for employees -- we have lost a great friend, industry leader and nation builder indeed, Yam told EdgeProp.my.

Yam is also the past president and patron of Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association of Malaysia, chairman for InvestKL Corp and advisor of Employees Provident Fund's subsidiary Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd.

“Personally, it has been a great experience and absolute pleasure for me to sit on the board of Paramount Corp as an independent non-executive director for the past 11 years and over the past seven years as its senior independent director under his leadership,” he added.

Teo passed away yesterday owing to complications from a Covid-19 infection.

Yam described Teo as an epitome of a gentleman and a professional while at the same time a patient mentor and loving family man.

“He is a sincere friend to many and a well-respected chairman of Paramount Corp - a well-established property and education public-listed company that had just celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019,” Yam said.

Yam added that Teo is also a leader who listens and encourages free flow of ideas and debates amongst the director while exercising the highest standards of governance and transparency.
