PETALING JAYA (May 30): All construction works are prohibited during the full movement control order (FMCO), which started from June 1 - 14, said Senior Minister (Works) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He noted that the decision is to curb the spread of Covid-19, however exceptions are given to construction works under critical services.

Exceptions given to construction works to ensure public’s safety:
- Repair and maintenance of slopes, roads, bridges and traffic lights
- Periodic inspection and repair of lifts, travelators, escalators and other critical mechanical and electrical equipment
- Repair, maintenance and upgrading works of premises of critical services
- Maintenance and cleaning works for the disposal of stagnant water or pest control fogging at construction
- Repair and maintenance works for rails, such as light rail transit or mass rapid transit, commuter, single/ double track and rail projects
- Repair of personal residences
- The construction of Bailey Bridge at locations with collapsed bridges.

In addition, construction works that involved public infrastructure are also allowed:
- Tunnels
- Slopes
- Bridges and viaduct
- The on-going highway project that has completed 80% and above
- Public transportation works, including light rail transit or mass rapid transit, commuter, single/ double track and rail projects
- Infrastructure relating to electricity, telecoms or oil and gas
- Construction work of hospital that has completed 80% and above
- Construction works that have complete on-site accommodation for the workers.  

All the contractors involved in these projects would need to obtain approval from CIDB to continue the construction works. Application could be done online: www.cims.cidb.gov.my.
  
Only 60% of capacity allowed for on-site construction and Covid-19 swab test is mandatory for all on-site workers.
