KUALA LUMPUR (July 17): The Government is considering giving flexibility to companies to operate in full capacity if their employees are fully vaccinated, said the Coordinating Minister for Malaysia’s National Recovery Plan Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (pictured).

In a statement yesterday, Zafrul said the decision will be finalised in the near future and highlighted that the Government is also expected to give some flexibility to individuals who have been fully inoculated.

Zafrul added, the Federal Government will also improvise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) by getting feedback from experts in order to provide clarity and strengthen the framework.

“Today, the Prime Minister chaired the second meeting of the National Recovery Plan Cabinet Special Committee (JKKPPN) to monitor current developments in the transmission of Covid-19 infection in the country.

“The meeting has agreed that the JKKPPN will be replaced with the National Recovery Council (MKN) which will be chaired by the Prime Minister in order to facilitate the National Recovery Plan (PPN) to ensure it is in order and strengthen the strategy to curb the Covid-19 spread holistically.

“The meeting also has decided that PPN will be tabled in Parliament on July 26,” Zafrul said.

The Finance Minister also highlighted that MPN will appoint representatives from the private sector, industrial experts, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to seek their input and suggestions to ensure Malaysia can rebound strongly from the pandemic.

“The MPN will also consider and recommend measures or improvements to ensure that the transition from one phase to another can be achieved immediately, based on key threshold values which have been set earlier.

“The Government also will strengthen the strategy to curb the spread of the virus by focusing on several areas such as activity/movement rate, duration of infectiousness, high-risk population and capacity building of the public health system,” he said.
