KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 8): Individuals who are fully vaccinated are allowed to eat out in states that have moved into Phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP), as the government eases the movement control measures from Tuesday (Aug 10).

Klang Valley, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Melaka are still in Phase One currently. Hence, dining activities are not permitted for now.

However, Prime Minister Tan Sri Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin warns that dining in at restaurants or cafes is considered high risk compared with other social activities, as patrons are not able to wear masks while eating.

He advised the public to dine in only when necessary. Order to take away remains a better option for the moment, Muhyiddin said in his speech this afternoon.

All patrons at eateries are required to show their digital vaccination certificate.

Children below 17 year old who follow fully inoculated parents eating out are required to follow strict standard operating procedures, as they are not vaccinated.

Muhyiddin also said food & beverage operators should have more outdoor space with good ventilation for dine-in customers.

States that are in Phase 2 of NPR are Penang, Perak, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah. Meanwhile, Perlis, Labuan and Sarawak are already in Phase 3.
