KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 3): Johor topped the list again with the highest daily number of Covid-19 doses given at 56,912, representing 15.42% of total shots administered across the country yesterday (Sept 2), according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

This was followed by Perak with 40,250 doses (10.9%) and Selangor with 34,355 jabs (9.3%)

Overall, Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered fell to 369,280 yesterday, from 398,134 the day before.

Among them, 181,635 jabs were given as the first dose, while 187,645 people received their second shot.

Perak recorded the highest number of first doses given yesterday at 29,671, followed by Johor (24,221) and Kelantan (22,301).

As for second doses, Johor led the country with 32,691 shots, followed by Selangor (27,577) and Kuala Lumpur (19,564).

Cumulatively, 35.52 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered in the nation as of yesterday. A total of 20.12 million people or 61.6% of the country's population had gotten at least the first shot, including 15.43 million or 47.2% who were fully inoculated with two jabs.

About 6.9 million individuals or 82% of the total population of the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday. Among them, 5.8 million people or 68.8% of the Klang Valley's population were fully inoculated.

Meanwhile, a total of 2.2 million people or 58.1% of Johor's population had been given at least the first shot, including 1.36 million or 35.9% who were fully inoculated.

On the other hand, 1.67 million people or 42.7% of Sabah's population had received at least the first jab. Among them, 1.15 million or 29.3% had completed their two-dose vaccination.

As for Penang, 1.17 million people or 66% of the state’s population had received at least the first dose, including 806,686 or 45.5% who were fully inoculated.

In Kedah, a total of 1.13 million individuals or 51.7% of the state’s population had been given at least the first shot. Among them, 737,454 or 33.7% had completed their two-dose vaccination.

Also as of yesterday, a total of 817,019 or 42.8% of Kelantan’s population had received at least the first dose, including 588,813 or 30.9% who had received both jabs.

Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 20,988 yesterday after falling to a nine-day low of 18,762 the day before. This brought cumulative Covid-19 infections in the country to 1.78 million.

A total of 249 coronavirus-linked deaths were reported, raising the nation's total fatalities to 17,191.
