KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 7): The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has awarded a build and migrate-based data centre cabling project in Sungai Buloh, Selangor to Mesiniaga Bhd, according to the EPF’s latest tender results.

"Sungai Buloh build and migrate — data centre cabling,” the EPF said without elaborating.

The project awarded to Mesiniaga is among the EPF’s latest tender results for July 2021 indicated on the pension fund’s website.

At the time of writing today, Mesiniaga has yet to announce the EPF contract win in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

In IT terminology, the phrase "build and migrate" may be associate with Internet-based cloud computing which involves data storage in a remote database instead of a hard disk drive.

Cloud computing users who have electronic devices which can be linked to the Internet can access files stored under a cloud-based system wherever the users are.

At Bursa’s 12:30pm break today, Mesiniaga's share price settled up one sen or 0.68% at RM1.48 for a market value of about RM89.39 million.

Mesiniaga has 60.4 million issued shares.

According to Mesiniaga’s website, the company was established on Dec 17, 1981 at a time when Malaysia’s IT industry was still in its infancy in response to the government’s aspiration to increase local participation in the technology industry.

"Since then, Mesiniaga has been in the technology business for almost four decades. What started out as a company selling IBM office products has now evolved into a multi-platform technology solutions provider,” Mesiniaga said.
