KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): A total of 19,550 new Covid-19 cases were reported today, a dip from yesterday’s high of over 21,000 cases, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general said this brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 1.96 million since the pandemic began.

In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said Sarawak recorded the highest number of new infections with 3,743, followed by Selangor (2,416), Johor (2,282) and Sabah (2,163), while Kuala Lumpur recorded 555 cases. 

However, recoveries outpaced positive cases today at 21,771. 

Out of the positive cases in the country, 1,247 were admitted to the ICU, 667 of whom require ventilators. 

There were also 28 new clusters today, which brings the total number of clusters in the country to 5,087, of which 3,641 have ended while 1,446 are currently active. 

Out of the total number of cases today, 265 are from Category 3, 4 and 5 while 19,285 are from Category 1 and 2.
