KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 12): Malaysia's daily Covid-19 doses administered fell to 258,929 yesterday (Sept 11) from 287,059 the day before.

Of the total, 169,969 were reported to have been fully vaccinated while the remaining 88,960 received their first dose of the vaccine according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country's Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

As of yesterday, cumulatively 38.26 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been administered.

With these, a total of 17,026,781 individuals or 72.7% of the country's adult population had completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of yesterday.

It also said that 90.9% of the adult population had received at least one dose, including recipients of the CanSino single-dose vaccine.

About 6.99 million individuals or 83.1% of the total population of the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, had received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

Among them, 6.2 million people or 73.6% of the Klang Valley's population were fully inoculated with two shots.

For the second day in a row, Sarawak recorded the highest number of daily first doses administered yesterday with 19,979 shots, followed by Pahang (12,905), Perak (11,745), Johor (10,157) and Penang (9,198).

As for second doses in a day, Johor topped the pile with 32,524 doses administered, followed by Kuala Lumpur (26,349), Sabah (20,875), Selangor (18,949) and Kedah (15,067).

Malaysia posted a record number of Covid-19 deaths yesterday at 592 via the COVIDNOW system online which tracks vital Covid-19 statistics in the country.

Today, Malaysia recorded 19,198 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the cumulative total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 1,979,698 since the pandemic began.
