Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccination rate rose to 326,612 doses on Sept 23

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered rose to 326,612 yesterday (Sept 23) from 321,342 the day before.

Of the total doses administered yesterday, 132,562 individuals received their first shot, while the remaining 194,050 received their second jab, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

A total of 41.57 million doses had been administered in the nation as of yesterday.

A total of 22.48 million people or 68.8% of Malaysia’s population had received at least the first dose, including 19.18 million or 58.7% who were fully inoculated. 

In terms of the adult population, 93.4% had received at least the first jab, including 81.8% who were fully vaccinated. 

For the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, about 7.13 million persons or 84.7% of its total population had received at least the first shot as of yesterday.

Of this, 6.68 million recipients or 79.3% of the Klang Valley’s population were fully inoculated against Covid-19.

For the daily number of first doses administered, Sabah led with 24,451 shots, followed by Selangor (17,335), Johor (13,612) and Perak (11,472).

As for second doses, Perak topped the list with 27,404 jabs, followed by Johor (27,141), Kedah (22,341) and Kelantan (20,812).

Yesterday, Malaysia logged 13,754 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s cumulative infection tally to 2.16 million.

Meanwhile, 116 Covid-19 linked deaths were reported, raising the nation’s total related fatalities to 24,681.
