KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 4): A total of 20,621,994 individuals or 87.6% of the country’s adult population and 63.1% of the total population were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of Sunday (Oct 3), according to the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

By states and federal territories, the Klang Valley had the highest percentage in terms of the adult population that had been fully vaccinated at 111.6% (6,884,266 individuals), followed by Labuan (98.7% with 69,277 individuals completing their two-dose vaccination) and Negeri Sembilan (97.8% with 798,093 individuals fully inoculated).

The fully vaccinated category represents the number of individuals who have received their second jab of two-dose vaccination of the Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Sinovac vaccine or one dose of the single-shot CanSino vaccine.

Cumulatively, 23,833,382 individuals or 94.3% of the adult population and 72.9% of the total population nationwide had received at least their first dose.

Malaysia's daily number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered fell slightly to 206,574 on Sunday — the fourth consecutive day of a decline — compared with 211,517 doses on Saturday, 237,245 doses last Friday and 329,163 last Thursday.

Of the latest doses administered on Sunday, 96,024 were first shots, while the remaining 110,550 were second jabs.

The country logged 9,066 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday — the lowest in four months — bringing the nationwide tally of infections to 2,277,565. Another 118 deaths were reported, raising cumulative fatalities due to the coronavirus to 26,683.
