KUCHING (Jan 23): Construction companies in Sarawak have been encouraged by Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah to tap into infrastructure development opportunities in East Kalimantan with the advent of Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, reported by Borneo Post Online

Sarawak is in a good position to tap into the opportunity as Sarawak is located just next to Kalimantan, said the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts of Sarawak during a press conference on the launch of the Largest Sarawak Themed Mural Painting at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Friday (Jan 21).

He noted that the construction industry had also thrived when the capital city was moved from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya as an example.

Not only will it offer development opportunities, the establishment of the new capital will also increase flight frequency between Sarawak and Kalimantan, he said.

“This is a good development for I believe it will bring about more development. Any such development will have spin-off (effects) to the provinces in Kalimantan, and Sarawak, we will enjoy the spin-off effects too,” he said quoted by Borneo Post Online
