Johnny Depp is widely considered one of Hollywood's best actors with several accolades under his belt. Recently though, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has made headlines being embroiled in a legal tussle with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Nevertheless, Depp is also known for his interesting real estate holdings, which include an island in the Bahamas, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. During the years with former partner French singer-actress Vanessa Paradis, Depp purchased an entire French village which was recently on the market at US$55.5 million (RM240.65 million).

After the split with Paradis, he married Heard in 2015 -- which ended in divorce just a year later. Listed after the divorce was Depp's unique collection of penthouses in downtown Los Angeles.

Over a number of years, Depp has acquired five multi-storeyed, side-by-side penthouse units after the building had been refurbished in 2007. Decorated in his unique style, the units were never joined. Instead, he lived in them by going from room to room, or lent them to relatives.

The units included four two-bedroom and a one-bedroom, totalling approximately 11,500 sq ft. The 13-storey Eastern Columbia Building was designed by Claud Beelman in 1930. It is considered one of the city's best examples of Art Deco architecture that is still standing.

Depp eventually sold the penthouses in 2017 for a total of almost US$10.9 million.
