SHAH ALAM (April 20): S P Setia Foundation and Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS), together with Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) and Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) organised a Financial Literacy Workshop on fundamental financial management for 80 asnaf individuals at Baitussalam Pusat Perlindungan Asnaf Lembaga Zakat Selangor on April 14.

“This inaugural collaboration is a new benchmark for efforts in assisting the community in need,” said Y.A.M. Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, chairman of LZS and S P Setia Bhd who officiated the event.

Syed Anwar also presented syawal baskets and zakat funds, in the form of Hari Raya packets worth RM380 per packet, to 80 asnaf recipients. The zakat funds are contributed by Perumahan Kinrara Bhd, one of S P Setia’s subsidiaries.

The first session of the Financial Literacy Workshop dealt with financial management for a better future as well as tips on scam prevention, conducted by Izmir Mohammad, assistant vice president of ASNB.

The second session was presented by Muhd Khairil Ashraf Mohd Karid, senior executive of Household Financial Education Department from AKPK, which focused on saving for families. These workshop sessions equipped the asnaf community with essential skills on managing finances effectively which would help them make more informed decisions on budgeting, saving and investing.

Also at the event were Datuk Zuraidah Atan, S P Setia Foundation’s chairman and a director of S P Setia Bhd and Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Abdullah, Trustee of LZS.

Also in attendance were S P Setia director, Tengku Datuk Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud and executive vice president, Datuk Zaini Yusoff; Michael Teoh, Trustee of S P Setia Foundation; Tuan Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, chief executive officer of LZS; Datuk Yuslina Mohd Yunus, management committee of S P Setia Foundation and executive vice president of S P Setia; Adelene Wong, management committee of S P Setia Foundation and head of Group Branding & Communications; the top management team of LZS, as well as S P Setia's key management team and corporate volunteers.
