KUALA LUMPUR (July 18): AmBank (M) Bhd has teamed up with Advelsoft (M) Sdn Bhd to provide bank customers with JomPAY, a platform to make online bill payments for monthly management fees for condominiums and apartments.

To use this service, customers simply have to log into their condominium's website, which will be linked to the JomPAY service to obtain a reference number. Customers will then be redirected to their bank account where they can proceed with payment.

Currently there are 600 condominiums using the JomPAY service, which is operated by MyClear, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia.

Advelsoft managing director Yap Yun Fatt said the service sees an increase of approximately 10 condominiums month-on-month.

"Given that there are 13,000 condominiums in total in Malaysia, I believe there is a large potential to grow for this service," said AmBank Group chief executive officer Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir at the signing ceremony involving the bank, MyClear and Advelsoft today.

Besides being a 24/7 alternative to current payment methods such as credit cards, cheques, cash payments and online transfers, JomPAY would increase competitiveness as it would reduce the transaction period to less than a day, he added.

"For us, the benefits of JomPAY isn't so much the income gained, but maintaining relationship we have built with our customers by giving them an online solution as well as always having customers with balances with the bank," said Sulaiman. — theedgemarkets.com
