50 Cent

KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): It is hard times for American rapper 50 Cent. The man who led the MTV luxurious lifestyle has had to deal with a failed business, bankruptcy and a lawsuit over a sex tape.

It is therefore not surprising that 50 Cent is trying to unload his Farmington, Connecticut mansion.

The rapper has now lowered the price of his house to US$5.995 million, according to an Associated Press report.

Business Insider reported that “the 50,000 sq ft mansion was originally listed at US$18.5 million (RM75.24 million) in 2015, but Jackson (50 Cent’s real name is Curtis Jackson) dropped the price significantly to US$8.5 million in the fall of last year, months after he declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy”.

The listing from Douglas Elliman Real Estate describes the mansion as having “21 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms, an indoor pool and hot tub, a substantial night club, an indoor court, multiple game rooms, a green screen room and a recording studio”.

According to the Hartford Courant the rapper “bought the mansion for US$4.1 million in 2003 but was reported to have spent US$6 million to US$10 million on renovations”.

When 50 Cent filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year, AFP reported that he had told the court that his lavish lifestyle was all a show and that he borrowed expensive jewellery that he returned after wearing them in public.

The same report also mentioned that the artiste had earned an estimated US$100 million in 2007 when he sold a stake in enhanced water drink VitaminWater.
