KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): The Federal Territories Ministry plans to build accommodation for low income youths working in the service sectors in Kuala Lumpur, Bernama reported yesterday.

Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pictured) said this will allow bachelors to rent rooms at a low rate of RM50 to RM80 a month.

"This is to help those who work in hotels, restaurants and all services industry in Kuala Lumpur where they can afford to rent a room even if their salary is low.

"We are planning to build the houses with an area of 650 sq ft per unit. And each unit will have five rooms, toilet and dining area.

"This houses will also include parking area for motorcycles and will be built near LRT (Light Rail Train) stations," Bernama reported him as saying after officiating at the ground breaking ceremony for the Pantai Sentral Park Interchange here yesterday.

IJM Land Bhd and its joint venture partner for Pantai Sentral Park, Amona Development Sdn Bhd, are spending about RM52 million to construct the 2.8km interchange to connect the development to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE).

“The Pantai Sentral Park interchange will be completed in February 2018,” said managing director of IJM Land Edward Chong at the ceremony.

According to Chong, the new interchange will create direct access to the NPE, connecting the 58-acre Pantai Sentral Park integrated development in Bukit Kerinchi to areas such as Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Bangsar and Mid Valley City.
