KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): Civil servants’ housing loan eligibility will be raised from between RM120,000 and RM600,000 to between RM200,000 and RM750,000 under Budget 2017.

“We are approaching six decades of independence. During these years, public servants, which currently stand at 1.6 million, have been the backbone and pillar of the nation’s administration,” said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his Budget 2017 speech in Parliament today.

“The government is pleased to increase the public servants’ housing loan eligibility,” he said, adding that this reflects the government’s commitment to enable them to own houses.

He also added that the government will be completing 30,000 units of homes under the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing (PPA1M) scheme with selling prices between RM90,000 and RM300,000, which is 20% below the market price.
