Mitsui Outlet Park Kuala Lumpur International Airport

SEPANG (Nov 14): The Mitsui Outlet Park Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will become the Southeast Asia's biggest outlet mall by 2021 after phase three expansion is completed.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd chairman Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah said the second phase expansion, which is set to be completed in 2018, would see the mall hosting 190 shops from the 130 at present, Bernama reported today.

"Phase two will introduce more premium brands with increased offerings of luxury international and local brands in fashion, cosmetics, sports and accessories with the diversification into entertainment and amusement, as well as inclusion of service-based tenants," he said during the phase two ground-breaking ceremony at the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA here today.

Wan Abdul Aziz also said that phase two would have the Sky Walk and River Walk themes.

The Sky Walk will have ceilings covered with simulated with clouds, while the River Walk resembles a creek, providing shoppers with refreshing interior embellishments, Bernama reported.

Also, beauty-related and entertainment businesses included in phase two of the development would enhance and broaden brand and product variation, said Mitsui Fudosan managing officer Osamu Obayashi

The investment for the three phases of the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA is estimated to cost RM335 million, Bernama reported.

Mitsui Outlet Park was officially launched in July 29 last year. The development currently has approximately 24,000 sq m of retail space housing multiple brands such as Topshop, Superdry, Levi's, Adidas and Isetan Outlet Store.

The factory outlet concept mall is just a five-minute drive from KLIA.
