SEREMBAN (May 25): The Negri Sembilan government has urged developers to develop housing projects in rural areas too instead of only focusing in town areas.

State exco member Datuk Jalaluddin Alias, who is in charge of the township wellness, housing and local government portfolio, said apart from the housing projects in towns, developers should also look at rural and small districts like Jelebu.

“The move is necessary to give the second generation a chance to buy a house.

“This is also to avoid a situation where there is less people living in rural areas 10 years from now,” he said after opening the Malaysia Property Expo (Mapex) 2015 at the Seremban Prima recently.

Jalaluddin also said that developers should build houses to meet different needs such as low-cost, medium-cost and high-cost.

“I also feel that developers should identify if house buyers are buying for own use or otherwise.

“I am aware the developer’s priority is to make a profit, but this is my personal opinion,” he said.

The property expo was organised by Negri Sembilan Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (Rehda).
