PETALING JAYA (Aug 10): The realignment of the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway Phase 3 (DUKE 3) is expected to run along the border of the 495-acre Bandar Malaysia development in Sungai Besi, the digitaledge Weekly reported today.
Ekovest Bhd, which is currently operating the 18km DUKE and is now completing the 16km DUKE Phase 2, is in talks with 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) for the realignment of the highway.
The realignment will see a 2km section of the 32km highway sitting at the border of Bandar Malaysia. It is expected to be a boost for the values of Bandar Malaysia as well as the planned location for the mass rapid transit (MRT) and the high-speed rail stations.
DUKE 3 is already in the final stages of planning and the government is expected to award the concession by year- end. It will run between the Klang Valley’s inner and middle ring roads, and will link Setiawangsa to the Federal Highway near Mid Valley Megamall.
The construction of the highway will take 3.5 years.
1MDB is currently running a tender process to bring in an equity partner to co-develop the land. It has since received 42 expressions of interest, of which almost two-thirds were local parties. The number of bidders would then be narrowed down to around 30 based on their merits.
The tender values Bandar Malaysia at RM11.5 billion to RM12.5 billion.
