PETALING JAYA (June 11): The Edge Media Group and Mah Sing Group Bhd launched The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest today. The competition will see one lucky winner walk away with a RM1 million prize voucher to purchase any Mah Sing-launched residential property in Malaysia.

“Through this contest, we are excited with the opportunity to showcase the diversified range of residential products that we have to offer in the property hotspots of the Klang Valley and Greater KL, Johor Baru, Penang and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Working together with The Edge, we view this contest like no other because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any person to own a million-ringgit dream Mah Sing home,” said Mah Sing’s executive director and CEO Ng Chai Yong during the press conference after the launch.

The contest is held in conjunction with the launch of theedgeproperty.com by The Edge Media Group on May 7. The contest is also designed to introduce the portal to the public.

“We hope that through this contest, not only the participants but the public will learn about the vast array of proprietary news, research, data, analytics and tools available on theedgeproperty.com,” said The Edge Media Group publisher and CEO Ho Kay Tat.

According to Mah Sing general manager of corporate communications Lyanna Tew, the number of participants taking part will depend on how well the contest is publicised.

"On the small scale, at least 5,000 people; on the bigger scale, the sky is the limit,” said Tew.

Ho added that The Edge Media Group will use its media outlets and resources to attract participants. “I think with RM1 million as a prize in such challenging times, a lot of people would participate. I am quite confident to get a very good number and create a lot of buzz,” said Ho.

Ng said: “Members of the public should take this opportunity to not only vie for the RM1 million grand prize, but to also understand better who Mah Sing is as a corporate citizen, our various corporate social responsibility initiatives and what we are doing to become a world-class developer.”

The winner can choose from an array of residential properties developed by Mah Sing such as serviced residences in Icon Residence in Mont'Kiara and Aspen@Garden Residence bungalows in Cyberjaya. Beyond the Klang Valley, some choices are the Loft@Southbay City suites in Penang, Meridin@Medini suites in Johor Baru and The Residences at Sutera Avenue apartments in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Ng shared that 84% of the group’s planned residential launches this year are priced below RM1 million, while 71% are priced below RM700,000 and 44% are priced below RM500,000.

The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest will run from June 20 to July 31. It is open to Malaysians, Malaysia's permanent residents, Singaporeans and Singapore's permanent residents aged 21 years and above, subject to terms and conditions.

Participants will be guided to complete a few simple registration steps and are required to complete a The Edge Fair Value tool on theedgeproperty.com before starting on the contest. To gain more chances of winning, participants may also take part in the exciting activities listed on the contest webpage.

The Edge Fair Value is an indicative price of a property generated by a proprietary algorithm based on actual transactions.

The finale of the contest will convene with a “Survivor Challenge” – a mix of simple and physical games for 21 selected finalists on Aug 22 at Southville City@KL South, Bangi.

To take part in The Edge – Mah Sing Millionaire Contest, participants may log on to www.theedgeproperty.com, Mah Sing’s facebook page www.facebook.com/mahsing, other web links from web pages related to Mah Sing or the contest webpage www.theedgemahsingmillionaire.com (to be activated on June 20).

Aside from the RM1 million grand prize from Mah Sing, The Edge Media Group will also contribute 20 consolation prizes for the finalists.
