Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA (Sept 28): Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) has opened nine cycling trails to attract more sports enthusiasts to the federal administrative centre.

PPj president Datuk Hasim Ismail said the trails came in three categories – easy, moderate and challenging – and wound through Putrajaya, revealing the interesting spots along the way.

“Putrajaya is paradise for cyclists. Based on my experience, there are many routes that are perfect for cycling,” he said after opening the cycling trails in conjunction with World Tourism Day Fun Ride yesterday.

About 400 cyclists participated in the event held at Dataran Putra.

The easy routes are Sisiran Tasik, 12.1km; Perdana (5km); and Marina (2.7km).

On the easy routes, Hasim said, cyclists would catch sight of landmarks such as Seri Wawasan Bridge, Millennium Monument, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque,  Perdana Putra building, Palace of Justice, Putrajaya International Convention Centre and Marina Putrajaya.

The moderate routes Saujana Hijau (7.2km), Wetland (4km) and Putra Perdana (800m) will take the cyclists through Putrajaya Lake Club, Seri Perdana, Moroccan Pavilion, Botanical Garden and Putra Perdana Park.

The challenging routes are Taman Rimba Alam (5km), Taman Cabaran (2.7km) and Taman Wawasan (3.6km).
