PETALING JAYA (Feb 19): The Malaysian Annual Real Estate Convention 2016 (Marec’16) aims to elevate the skills and mindsets of real estate practitioners to set themselves apart from the growing number of competitors in the market.

“If we do not elevate our skills and mindsets, before we know it, technology advances will make us dinosaurs,” said organising chairwoman and principal of agency RealProperty. My Amanda Goh.

The two-day convention which starts on March 11 will begin with a session by Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd chief economist Nor Zahidi Alias on the Malaysian economic outlook for 2016.

Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) stated in a report that Zahidi will be focusing on current issues such as the implications of the overall outlook on the world economy, plunging oil prices, continuing depreciation of the ringgit and the impact of Budget 2016 on the country’s economy.

Also headlining Marec’16 are Singapore’s top real estate sales trainer Colin Tan; top Action Coach in Malaysia and Asia Jeevan Sahadevan; social media trainer Dr Frank J Peters; and PhD and Psycho Cybernetics expert Gary Dean-Atkins.

“Tan will show participants how to create the right game plan and how to harness the right character traits and business structure, systems, strategies and skills to be a super agent,” MIEA noted.

On the other hand, Jeevan will focus on the eight vital sales skills every successful salesperson has to master to seal the deal.

“His intensive session will uncover cutting-edge sales strategies, tactics, concepts, philosophies, as well as step-by-step methods for getting leads and converting them into customers,” MIEA added.

Moreover, Dr Peters’ session will delve into the effective use of social media to produce leads and sales, backed by real life examples and case studies.

“Social media is now the must-have marketing tool but simple Facebook postings are fruitless,” said MIEA.

In addition, international speaker Gary Dean-Atkins will also make an appearance to expound on managing emotional reactions in a challenging market that has contributed to curing corporate burnout to dramatically increasing sales results.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, MIEA is offering Marec’16 tickets to all registered real estate agents and negotiators in Malaysia at a flat rate of RM688.

After the festive promotion, the conference rates are RM 1,299 (for registration by March 7) and RM 1,399 (on-site registration).
