MRT MMC Gamuda

KUALA LUMPUR (July 13): Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and MMC Gamuda KVMRT Sdn Bhd today signed the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) Agreement for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP Line).

Chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar signed on behalf of MRT Corp, the owner of the SSP Line, while the signatories for MMC Gamuda were Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh and Datuk Paul Ha, both directors of the company.

Che Khalib is also group managing director of MMC Corporation Bhd while Ha is an executive director of Gamuda Bhd.

Shahril said the signing of the PDP Agreement was a historic milestone for the development of the SSP Line, the second line of the Klang Valley MRT Project.

“I am very happy that we have finally concluded negotiations and sealed the PDP Agreement.

“MRT Corp and MMC Gamuda have already forged a good partnership with each other after working together for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (SBK Line). I am glad we will now continue to work together to deliver the SSP Line to the rakyat,” Shahril said during the signing ceremony which was held at MRT Corp Corporate Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

Shahril said the terms of the agreement had also been agreed to by the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Under the agreement, MMC Gamuda as PDP will be responsible for the delivery of the SSP Line within the agreed target cost and target delivery date.

On top of the above two Key Performance Indicators (KPI), which were similar to those for the MRT SBK Line, four additional KPIs have now been included in the PDP Agreement.

The additional KPIs are compliance with Safety, Health and Environment requirements; compliance with agreed quality standards; timely response to public complaints and implementation of stakeholder management.

For taking on the PDP role, MMC Gamuda will be paid a fee set at 6% of actual cost of the construction of the SSP Line, provided the above KPIs are met. If the KPIs are not met, the fees will be deducted, based on quantums which have been agreed to by both parties.

“I can see that the PDP Agreement for the SSP Line is much more refined and an improvement from that for the SBK Line. Both parties have learnt a lot from the partnership for the SBK Line and I am happy to see that these have been incorporated into this new agreement.

“I thank everyone who has worked hard in order for us to be able to sign the agreement today,” Shahril said.

The 52.2km SSP Line will serve a corridor with a population of around 2 million people, stretching from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya. The alignment will serve Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya.

The public inspection for the proposed alignment of the SSP Line and its stations is currently on-going and will end on Aug 17. Construction of the line is expected to begin in the second quarter of next year.
