Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan Negeri SembilanSEREMBAN (Oct 22): The Negeri Sembilan government wants the private sector to use state land for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to benefit the poor.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pictured) said the available land would be given for free to interested organisations to build affordable homes or charity homes.

“The affordable homes is one way the state government can ensure the poor also can live a normal life,” he told reporters.

He added that based on the subsidies given for a particular project, the rental for the homes would be about RM150 a month.

“For example, those renting will have to pay rent for 25 years, upon which it becomes their own,” he said.

He added that there were 150 units affordable homes in Taman Siliau Jaya (Port Dickson), 100 units in Ladang Tanah Merah (Port Dickson), 100 units in Rantau and 500 in Chembong (Rembau).

"This is also a window to help reduce the cost of living for the low-income group in the state," he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said there was a 40ha land ready to be used for affordable homes.

“We are ready to tie up with corporate organisations,” he said.

He added that the state government also welcomed corporations to take up the available land to build charity homes.

“We are in discussion with several companies who have shown interest to build charity homes for underprivileged children.

“The homes will be managed by the companies but the state government will provide the necessary assistance,” he said. -- The Malaysian Insider
