Hilton hotel at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

SCHIPHOL (Dec 17): A new Hilton hotel at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, developed by Schiphol Real Estate’s subsidiary Schiphol Hotel Property Company and designed by Dutch architectural firm Mecanoo, opened its doors to guests today.

“The new Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol occupies a prominent position opposite the airport terminal at Schiphol Centre,” said a press statement issued following the opening of the hotel.

With a total area of 40,150 sq m (432,171 sq ft), the hotel comprises 433 rooms and hosts a number of facilities such as 23 conference rooms, a ballroom and a covered walkway from the hotel directly to the airport terminal.

An atrium with a glass roof, rising to 42m, forms the focal point of the hotel where the lobby and lounge are situated. The hotel’s interior design, done by The Gallery HBA, was inspired by Dutch cultural heritage and history, with typical characteristics of the Netherlands through its natural colour scheme.

The Schiphol central business district is estimated to be serving some 65,000 working people with about 500 companies located within the district. New developments, such as Starbucks, the bar and restaurant VIVA!, round-the-clock childcare services CompaNanny, The Base Library and Health Club as well as free bike loans have also increased the dynamism of its working environment.

Schiphol Real Estate is an airport operator that owns and operates the Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Lelystad Airport.
