Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan

SEREMBAN (Jan 21): The Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) housing project will begin soon at Seremban Sentral.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the project had been delayed due to a land acquisition issue which had been resolved.

"The project was delayed as there was an issue on the price of the land offered by the owner, Railway Asset Corporation, to PR1MA, which was said to be overpriced," he told reporters.

"However, the parties have come to an agreement and work should start anytime soon."

Mohamad said the first phase would see more than 5,000 houses built in the state.

He added that the PR1MA project, in the state, would involve five independent developers appointed to build houses in Temiang, Senawang, Seremban 2, Nilai and Senawang.

The project was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in 2014.

Najib performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Seremban Sentral PR1MA project in September 2014.

Under the PR1MA concept, households with a combined income of between RM2,500 and RM7,500 are eligible to buy the units, priced between RM150,000 and RM300,000.

Mohamad said the PR1MA project in Temiang to build 6,000 houses had also been delayed.

"The authorities wanted the construction of a new exit on the Seremban Kajang Highway (Lekas) to be completed first before the project could take off," he said.

He added that it was important for the exit to be built because it would be a major link to Kuala Lumpur as well as other parts of Seremban. -- The Malaysian Insider
