KUALA LUMPUR (May 15): The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (MRT2) will be a boon for property developers, The Edge Financial Daily reported today.

The MRT2 will no longer pass through Pandan and Cheras but through Chan Sow Lin and the proposed Bandar Malaysia project in Sungai Besi.

This is to accommodate the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail link, which will have a station in the south of Bandar Malaysia.

According to a property analyst interviewed by The Edge Financial Daily, developments such as the 16 Sierra township in the south of Puchong stand to benefit from the proposed alignment, as will several developments in Sentul.

Others areas that stand to gain are The Mines, Cyberjaya and Sungai Besi old town, said director of Ho Chin Soon Research Sdn Bhd, Ho Chin Soon.

Another property analyst said IOI Properties Group Bhd, MCT Bhd, Mah Sing Group Bhd and UOA Development Bhd, which have developments along the MRT2, will benefit from the proposed alignment.

However, he added that any profit contribution from the location of their developments will only be felt later.

Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd revealed that there will be an underground segment of the MRT2 that will begin in Jalan Ipoh, pass through the Tun Razak Exchange and end near Kuchai Lama.

The proposed alignment of the MRT2 is up for public inspection from today until Aug 17 as part of the requirements of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. The public is invited to give its feedback to the Land Public Transport Authority.
