KUALA LUMPUR (June 15): Developers will be offered charge reduction incentives and green lane to speed up development approvals to build more affordable homes in the Federal Territory.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pictured) said the government was committed to find ways to help the people own homes such as offering appropriate incentives to developers.

"Indirectly, this actually helps the developers to ensure their projects are viable," he said in his speech during the launching and a draw session for the Federal Territory Affordable Homes (Rumawip) SkyAwani Residency in Putrajaya, today.

Rumawip SkyAwani Residency, which is developed by the SkyWorld Group in phases with the cooperation of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, would provide homes to 1,226 moderate income earners, he said.

Tengku Adnan said 2,549 people applied via the Rumawip portal and only 965 qualified for the draw today.

He said among the conditions stipulated in the Rumawip policy were a monthly household income not exceeding RM10,000 and the applicant must have stayed in the Federal Territory for not less than three years.

Tengku Adnan said the 800 square feet units in the project would be sold at RM300,000 a unit. Each would have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a parking bay.

Expected to be completed in three years, the project encompassed four blocks of 29-storey flats in Batu Muda Tambahan, Sentul.

It would be equipped with a 24-hour security system, multi-purpose hall, children's playground, futsal court and an infinity pond.
