Selangor MB Azmin AliPETALING JAYA (Nov 11): Despite instructions from Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to developers to begin constructing roads in Damansara Damai on Friday, residents are demanding Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali intervene because no work has started.

Damansara Damai Residents Coalition (Gapai) secretariat Muhammad Amirul Hishamuddin said that there has been no construction of new roads, even after the group had attended meetings with MBPJ and local assemblymen.

“Even before this announcement, we were promised that two roads would be built and completed by Jan 1, 2016, and another in 2017.

“However, with less than two months to next year, we do not see any new roads whatsoever.

“Our concern is that the developers and the council are making promises to the public without following through.

“That’s why we urge Azmin to come to our area and observe the real problem for himself, so he can use his administrative power to expedite construction,” he said.

Muhammad Amirul said that even though the location of the two new routes had been identified by the council and developers this year, they only put up the project development board on the sites in July.

“There is still no construction of routes whatsoever and yet they are making announcement of more routes without even consulting us,” he added.

Last week, Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said the developers were required to build roads to improve accessibility before they could start work on their individual projects.

He added that Jayah Megah Building and Engineering Sdn Bhd, Medan Prestasi Sdn Bhd and Prousaha Sdn Bhd were expected to spend RM16 million on the roads. -- The Malaysian Insider
